Our Treasures of Ecuador & the Galapagos – Wildlife & Landscape Photo Expedition offers an immersive experience in Ecuador’s lush cloud forests and the iconic Galápagos Islands. This 10-day journey will allow you to capture the stunning landscapes, incredible wildlife, and unique ecosystems that make these destinations world-renowned.

From the misty cloud forests teeming with exotic birdlife to the pristine beaches of the Galápagos where you’ll photograph giant tortoises and blue-footed boobies, this expedition is perfect for photographers seeking to refine their wildlife and landscape photography skills. With expert guidance and a small group size, you’ll have plenty of opportunities for personal coaching and the chance to capture iconic images that will last a lifetime.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Accommodation: 9 nights in comfortable, eco-friendly lodges and hotels in Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands, carefully selected for their location, comfort, and access to wildlife.
Transportation: All domestic flights, transfers, and transportation between locations are included. This covers flights from Quito to the Galápagos and inter-island transport within the archipelago.
Photography Mentorship: Daily workshops and field sessions focused on wildlife and landscape photography, including techniques for capturing the unique light and atmosphere of the Galápagos and Ecuador’s cloud forests.
Local Guides: Expert local guides and naturalists will join us, offering a deeper understanding of the local wildlife and ecosystems. Their insights will help you photograph the most iconic species and landscapes.
Meals: All breakfasts and many group meals, including traditional Ecuadorian cuisine and island specialties.

International Flights: Flights to and from Ecuador are not included.
Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is not included but is highly recommended.
Personal Expenses: Personal expenses such as souvenirs, snacks, and any optional activities are not included.
Alcoholic Beverages: Alcoholic drinks are not included, but may be purchased separately during meals or outings.
Gratuities: Tips for local guides, boat captains, and drivers are not included. A discretionary tip is recommended.
Visas: Any necessary visas for travel to Ecuador or the Galápagos Islands must be arranged by participants.

  • Boat Excursions: Daily excursions to the Galápagos Islands, including boat trips to isolated beaches, snorkeling opportunities, and close-up encounters with wildlife.
  • Photography Post-Processing Workshop: A special session on editing your wildlife and landscape photos to bring out the details of the natural world and perfect your shots.
  • Cloud Forest Pre-Tour (Optional): A 4-day pre-tour option to explore Ecuador's biodiverse cloud forests, where you’ll photograph exotic bird species like the Andean condor and hummingbirds.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Quito, Ecuador

Arrive in Quito and check into your hotel.
Welcome dinner with fellow photographers, followed by an introduction to the tour and tips for wildlife and landscape photography.
Evening photo walk through Quito’s historic Old Town.

Day 2-3: Cloud Forest Pre-Tour (Optional)

For those opting for the Cloud Forest Pre-Tour, travel to the Andean Cloud Forests, known for their stunning biodiversity and dramatic scenery.
Spend two days capturing the incredible landscapes and photographing the many bird species, including hummingbirds, toucans, and the Andean condor.
Experience the tranquility of the cloud forest and photograph its dense vegetation, misty mornings, and vibrant birdlife.

Day 4: Travel to the Galápagos Islands

Fly from Quito to the Galápagos Islands, where your photography adventure truly begins.
Visit the Charles Darwin Research Station and learn about the islands' conservation efforts while photographing giant tortoises, land iguanas, and other endemic species.
Evening lecture on the photography opportunities the islands offer, followed by an open discussion.

Day 5-7: Galápagos Islands – Wildlife & Landscape Photography

Spend the next three days island-hopping and capturing the Galápagos' unique wildlife, including the famous blue-footed booby, sea lions, and frigate birds.
Explore diverse landscapes, from volcanic beaches to lush highlands. Photograph the islands' striking geological formations, crystal-clear waters, and dramatic coastlines.
Visit several islands, including Santa Cruz, Floreana, and Espanola, each offering unique photographic opportunities.
Daily field sessions will focus on composition, wildlife behavior photography, and capturing the island’s raw beauty.

Day 8-9: Photography in the Galápagos

Continue your exploration of the islands with early morning and sunset shoots to capture the soft, golden light that makes the landscapes and wildlife even more mesmerizing.
Visit remote islands for close-up encounters with wildlife and spectacular landscapes, including the lava fields of Isabela Island.
Enjoy snorkeling with sea lions, marine iguanas, and colorful tropical fish. Capture underwater shots of these unique creatures.

Day 10: Return to Quito & Departure

Fly back to Quito and transfer to the airport for your return flight or continued travels.
Final photo critique session and farewell dinner, where we will review the images from the tour and share post-processing tips.
